The streets in Amchi Mumbai are alive with lights announcing Christmas. .Santa toppis made of red nylon , green Holy leaves made from paper, white snow out of cotton wool ,all the windows are announcing ,the winter festival the arrival of Lord Jesus .
It is indeed time to celebrate , the news papers magazines or all full of festive FOOD ,
The cakes and puddings, stuffed chicken and roast turkey , sorpotel, and cafreal , all the goan
Delicacies ,dodol ,and culcul cute names with flavours to tease the tips of your tongue.
Well , I had a large Christmas cake sitting in my fridge ,
I must eat it on Christmas day !
Well , let me add something more to it , and I thought why not have my own Christmas celebration , why should I feast only on Diwali and that too on boring laddues , and ghugras and jelebi and fafdas.
So I got bottle of wine ,and put it to chill , for starters I made pizzas ,thin crust , with red chilli tomato puree, chewy and melting mozzarella cheese, with crisp capsicums and white thin onions for topping garnish was basil leaves and hot paprika.
The table was set with white table cloth with red and white polka dot patchwork .The bright red against the white .An elegant Japanese tray had strawberries piled up on it to give more festive look . The main course was roasted chicken , with brown onion gravy , boiled sweet corn and cabbage salad accompanied it .tiny baby bread rolls ,warm and wrapped in napkin were on the side . Next was Kheema , cooked in brown vinegar from toddy , and spiced up with green chilly , this had on the side browned onion rice .
It was perfect setting for Christmas lunch in my Gujju house .
While Christmas cake warmed in the hot steamer in the kitchen we sipped wine and savoured our meal .
The plates removed , we had the lovely wet steaming cake in front of us, and chilled vanilla ice-cream topped with red strawberry .We scooped merrily into our delightful desert .
A feeling of satisfaction beaming in our smiles we prayed for Peace and Happiness for all.
Merry Christmas to you all . May Lord Jesus bless you all.
